Dr. Timothy Hurley has doctoring in his blood. His father was an orthopedic surgeon in Albuquerque for more than 45 years. His grandfather, a general practitioner in the San Luis Valley for more than 50 years, regularly rode his horse from Antonito to Tres Piedras to help women give birth, charging only $25 for his services. "I learned from these men most of what I know about being a caring and compassionate physician," says Dr. Hurley.

Dr. Hurley, a board-certified OB/GYN for 20 years, taught maternal fetal medicine as an assistant professor at the University of New Mexico Hospital. A student described him as an obstetrician, geneticist, radiologist, internist and patient advocate all rolled into one. "I have strived to combine these roles in my 18 years in Albuquerque," he says, "and now, in my private practice, Piņon Perinatal."

Although I thoroughly love teaching and plan to continue part time at the University," Dr. Hurley says. "I'm now focused on developing the personal interactions and sense of intimacy with patients that many physicians cherish."

Dr Hurley holds Albuquerque in highest regard. "Being raised in Albuquerque has given me a special connection with the people of New Mexico," he says. "Although I pursued the completion of my education outside the state. I always knew that I would return to Albuquerque to practice medicine. It is in my heritage."
