Piñon Perinatal Staff

 

Peg Hurley, our Assistant Director, was born and raised in Albuquerque. She attended St. Pius and Adams State College. Her work experience includes working with her father who was an orthopedic surgeon and with Congresswoman Heather Wilson as a Constituent Liaison for health, military and Social Security issues in the local Albuquerque office. Peg worked for two years with the Lovelace Senior Plan. Peg enjoys her good friends and her two dogs, Monty and Bella.

 

Stacy Allyson-Taylor is one of our sonographers. She started as a MA, went to school and worked to get her associates and become a nurse. She trained on the job to become a Sonographer. She has worked in various aspects of OB/GYN since 1985. Obstetric ultrasound is challenging and fulfilling. The job may seem repetitive, but she finds it fulfilling every time she looks at a little person.

 

Hilda Avila came from New Mexico Sonographics where she provided quality ultrasounds for over 6 years. She was also an instructor in the CNM sonography program. She previously provided technical services to the UNM Hospital Labor and Delivery Unit prior to her work with New Mexico Sonographics. Hilda is also certified in fetal echocardiography. Hilda originally from Cuba, is fluent in Spanish and enjoys exercising and painting in her free time.

 

Kristy Bell has worked in the medical field since she was a teenager in high school. She has worked at various facilities and has learned a lot about women's health. She has worked in both private and corporate practices. She is delighted to be part of the Piņon Perinatal team. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, reading, and sewing.

 

Diane Chavez worked as a Certified Medical Assistant at a Lovelace family practice clinic for six years. She has spent the last three years working the in the business office for an orthopedic surgeon. Diane has two sons, and three dogs. Diane likes to travel, and spend time with her family.

 

Leslie Harless, MS, is a genetic counselor. She received her Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of New Mexico. She then continued her studies at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, where she graduated with a Master's in Human Genetics in 2011. She returned home to New Mexico after graduation to begin her career in genetic counseling. She is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors. She enjoys being outdoors, running, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Amy McHale is a recent graduate of the Medical Coding and Billing program at Apollo College and has a diploma in Front and Back Office Medical Assisting. She has worked in the Administrative and Accounting fields for over 23 years. She looks forward to furthering her medical education. Amy has one daughter and enjoys spending time with her watching movies, listening to music and doing silly things.

 

Melanie Meyer is a board-certified genetic counselor who graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2004 with a Masters degree in Genetic Counseling. Following graduation, she worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for 5 years. Her primary position involved working in the Cytogenetics Laboratory, where she called physicians, nurses and other genetic counselors to discuss patient genetic testing results, among other duties. She also counseled patients in the prenatal clinic at Mayo. Melanie is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and was also a member of the Minnesota Genetic Counseling Association. She is originally from Wisconsin but enjoys the climate in New Mexico much more than that of the Mid-West. She and her husband love being active outdoors and traveling to new places.

 

Ping Porter is a certified nurse midwife. She was born and raised in China. She completed both her basic nursing education and her Masters degree in nurse midwifery in the University of New Mexico. She worked as a registered nurse for a year before she started her midwifery education. She is passionate about high-risk pregnancy care. She values evidence-based care. She also values patient participation in self-care. She is married, and has a son and a daughter. She enjoys swimming and running.

 

Valerie Quinn has been a Certified Diabetes Educator since 1991. She was the Director of the Presbyterian Diabetes Program and Owner of Diabetes Self-Management Center. In 2006 she was the finalist for National Diabetes Educator of the year. She spent three years at the Joslin Clinic in Boston and graduated from Boston Cologe, Magna Cum Laude. She has one son and one grandchild.

 

Krystal graduated from the Sonography program at Central New Mexico Community College and is certified in OB-GYN sonography. She became interested in OB sonography after her mother was pregnant with her little brother and when she was pregnant with her own daugher. She has one daughter and loves spending time with her and watching her dance.

 

Michaela Reyes Randle is a certified nurse practitioner. She is a native New Mexican who attended the University of New Mexico for both her nursing degree and her advanced practice degree. She has 7 years of OB experience. She is married and has three dogs. She enjoys camping and traveling. One of her favorite memories is living in Lima, Peru with her family.

 

Dolores Tapia has been a Medical Assistant for over 30 years in the OB/GYN field. Prior to that she was a nursing assistant for four years. She attended TVI and UNM and became a certified EMT, but never pursued the field. She has been married for 35 years and has three children. Her favorite hobbies are hunting, fishing, camping and sewing.

 

Francisca is our newest sonographer. She graduated from CNM with an associates degree. She is certified in OB/GYN and abdomen. She is thrilled to be a part of Pinon Perinatal and is enjoying the interaction with all of her patients. She loves spending time with her family and her pit bull Alice.

 

Diana Whitlock has been in the medical field off and on since 1982. She is married, has a son, a daughter, and one grandchild. She loves spending time with family and enjoys traveling the country with her husband in their RV whenever possible.
