Dr. Jacquelyn Blackstone

Dr. Jacquelyn Blackstone is a board - certified Obstetrician/ Gynecologist with fellowship training in Maternal Fetal Medicine. She has been providing prenatal care and management of complex pregnancies for over 35 years. She has spent her career caring for women with medical problems whose pregnancies required hospitalization, diagnostic procedures, as well as medical and / or surgical interventions for either the mother or the fetus.
She worked as an attending physician at the University of New Mexico for the past 8 years where she taught fellows, residents and medical students, and was closely involved in their training and development. Dr. Blackstone has been the recipient of multiple teaching awards both at UNM and at Maine Medical Center where she was the Medical Director of labor and Delivery and Assistant Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine for 25 years. She has over 70 peer reviewed publications.
Dr. Blackstone approaches each pregnancy individually and believes in shared decision making - involving the patient and her family as desired. As a mother and grandmother she has intimate knowledge of the experiences and fears shared by most pregnant women. She is comfortable caring for the whole patient and evaluates social and mental health issues along with substance use disorders if needed.
Dr. Blackstone spends her free time practicing photography and painting. She completed degrees in Studio Art and Art Education before deciding to apply to medical school. She chose to move to New Mexico for its natural beauty, its climate, its culture, and its people. She has a tiny house on an island off Portland, Maine where she likes to spend part of the summers with her family and friends.
